Technical Requirements of EN 10111: Hot-Rolled Steel for Cold Forming

Technical conditions and scope of the EN 10111 standard

The EN 10111 standard defines the quality requirements and technical specifications for low-carbon hot-rolled sheet and coil steel intended for critical cold forming operations. This material is fundamental for the production of complex-shaped parts in the automotive and mechanical engineering industries.

Product classification by geometric parameters:

  • Wide strip: products with a width of 600 mm or more.
  • Narrow strip: products with a width of less than 600 mm.

Regulatory requirements apply to rolled products with thicknesses ranging from 1.0 mm to 11.0 mm. EV Group China ensures the supply of metal products that strictly comply with the stated chemical and mechanical parameters for each grade.

It is important to note that this standard does not apply to the following categories: general-purpose structural steels (according to EN 10025), sheet steel for pressure vessels (EN 10028), specialized steels for welded gas cylinders (EN 10120), or quenched and tempered steels (EN 10083).

The terminology base for classifying hot-rolled steel is based on the provisions of EN 10079. Selecting the optimal steel grade for specific production tasks requires an analysis of operating conditions and processing methods. Experts at EV Group China are ready to provide professional consultation on selecting materials that ensure the required ductility and formability indicators.

The standard identifies four main steel grades: DD11, DD12, DD13, and DD14. Their identification is carried out in accordance with EN 10027-1 and EN 10027-2, with each grade possessing a specific balance of chemical composition and mechanical properties optimized for stamping processes.
