EN 10137-2 Standard: Technical requirements for high-strength steel plate from EV Group China

Technical requirements of the EN 10137-2 standard for high-strength steels

The European standard EN 10137-2 establishes strict specifications for hot-rolled plate and wide strip structural steel with an increased yield strength. Products supplied by EV Group China undergo mandatory heat treatment—quenching and tempering or precipitation hardening—which ensures stable physical and mechanical characteristics of the material in critical metal structures.

Regulatory indicators for chemical composition and mechanical properties for various steel grades are presented in the relevant tables of the standard. All supplied metal products comply with the declared delivery condition (quenched and tempered), providing an optimal combination of strength and toughness.

Nominal thickness range of rolled products

The EN 10137-2 standard applies to plate and wide strip products with the following thickness limitations:

  • Steel grades S460, S500, S550, S620, and S690: from 3 mm to 150 mm.
  • Steel grade S890: up to 100 mm.
  • Steel grade S960: up to 50 mm.

The technological processes used in the production of steel according to this standard allow for achieving a minimum yield strength in the range from 460 N/mm² to 960 N/mm², which is critical for the design of highly loaded engineering structures and special-purpose machinery.
