Standard EN 10218-2: Technical Requirements for Dimensions and Tolerances of Steel Wire

Technical Regulation EN 10218-2: Tolerances and Geometric Parameters

The European standard EN 10218-2 establishes strict metrological requirements for the geometric characteristics of round steel wire. The document details permissible diameter deviations as well as size requirements for wire products that have undergone various types of thermal and mechanical processing.

EV Group China applies this standard to control the quality of products supplied to customers. The regulation covers a wide range of products, including wire without a protective layer, as well as products with metallic or non-metallic coatings. The standard defines norms for wire supplied both in coils and as cut lengths.

Scope of the Standard

The provisions of EN 10218-2 apply to industrial wire products. Specifically, the standard establishes:

  • Limit deviations of diameter for round wire.
  • Requirements for the cut lengths of products and cutting methods.
  • Dimensional tolerances for various types of surface treatments.

It is important to note that this standard does not apply to specialized products for which individual technical specifications or industry standards with different dimensional accuracy requirements are provided. EV Group China specialists are ready to provide expert consultation on selecting wire in accordance with your production tasks and accuracy requirements.
