Technical features of the EN 10226-1 standard
The EN 10226-1 standard regulates key parameters for tapered external and parallel internal threads used in piping systems to ensure leak-tight connections under high pressure. These requirements cover pipe sizes ranging from 1/16 to 6 inches.
Engineering solutions based on the EN 10226-1 standard ensure the durability of assemblies, comparable to the service life of the pipelines themselves. During installation, it is recommended to use specialized sealing compounds (sealants) to ensure complete tightness of the threaded connection in operating environments.
Key notes for designers
- In accordance with EN 10226-2, tapered connections are regulated where sealing is achieved through the taper of both mating parts.
- Technical requirements for tapered threads with neutral density, described in STB 10226-2, are based on the provisions of EN 10226-1.
- For piping systems that do not require thread-based sealing, the provisions of the EN ISO 228-1 standard should be used.
- The methodology for controlling dimensional characteristics and geometric accuracy of threaded elements is detailed in STB 10226-3.
