Purpose and Scope of the EN 10226-3 Standard
The technical regulation EN 10226-3 establishes strict requirements for the inspection procedures of threaded connections using limit gauges. This methodology is intended for the verification of taper and parallel threads (internal and external) used in piping systems according to EN 10226-1 and EN 10226-2 specifications.
Engineers at EV Group China note: the use of the described measurement system for thread inspection on products made of molded polymer materials requires additional precautionary measures and is not a universal solution.
Quality Control Features
The EN 10226-3 standard is a specialized inspection tool, however, it does not replace a comprehensive quality management system in production. To ensure complete leak-tightness and compliance of the threaded element geometry, in addition to calibration, it is necessary to perform:
- Visual inspection of surfaces for defects.
- Direct measurements of the useful thread length.
- Periodic verification of production equipment and metal-cutting tools.
The document includes Annex A, which contains an exhaustive list of the sensors used, their identification parameters, and a description of the controlled thread profile elements.
Legal Significance of the Standard
In the event of disputes regarding product compliance with EN 10226-1 and EN 10226-2 requirements, the inspection methodology described in EN 10226-3 is recognized as the arbitration standard. The readings of the gauges regulated by this standard are the decisive factor when assessing the quality of threaded connections supplied by EV Group China.
