Technical features and applications of EN 10270-1

This part of the European standard regulates the requirements for cold-drawn circular cross-section steel wire intended for the production of mechanical springs. The material is adapted for operation under static loads, as well as for cyclic dynamic service. EV Group China supplies products in strict accordance with the general technical requirements of the EN 10021 standard.

EN 10270-2 Standard: Oil-hardened and tempered spring steel wire

Specification and performance characteristics

The EN 10270-2 standard describes the requirements for wire made of unalloyed and alloyed steels that have undergone an oil quenching and tempering process. This type of rolled product is optimized for absorbing high torsional stresses characteristic of compression and tension springs. In specific engineering tasks where the spring element is subjected to bending loads (e.g., lever mechanisms), the choice of material is made taking into account the operating temperature range.

For standard temperature conditions, EV Group China recommends unalloyed steel grades. If springs need to be used at elevated temperatures, alloyed steels are used, which also provide optimal tensile strength. Products comply with EN 10021 standards.

EN 10270-3 Standard: Stainless spring steel wire

Scope and product range

EN 10270-3 defines technical standards for stainless steel wire (up to 10.00 mm in diameter) intended for the manufacture of springs operating in aggressive corrosive environments and under moderate heat. Presented below are the main grades available for order from EV Group China.

In addition to the listed grades, EV Group China supplies wire made of steels according to EN 10088-3 (including 1.4571, 1.4028, etc.). If you require wire with a diameter from 10.00 to 15.00 mm, or need to obtain specific mechanical characteristics, parameters are agreed upon individually at the order placement stage. All products are certified according to EN 10021.
