Technical requirements and scope of the EN 10277 standard
The EN 10277 standard establishes strict technical delivery conditions for bright steel bars. The product range of EV Group China includes bars that have undergone cold drawing, machining (turning), or grinding. This type of rolled product is in high demand in precision mechanical engineering for the manufacturing of critical components and mechanisms.
In accordance with the regulations, EV Group China supplies products from the following steel categories:
- General-purpose non-alloy structural steels;
- Free-cutting steels with improved machinability;
- Case-hardening steels (alloyed and non-alloyed) for parts requiring high wear resistance;
- Quenched and tempered steels (alloyed and non-alloyed) for products requiring high strength and toughness.
Regulatory requirements for mechanical properties apply to bars with a nominal diameter of up to 100 mm. For products with a cross-section exceeding this limit, strength and ductility parameters are determined by agreement between the EV Group China engineering department and the customer during the specification stage.
It is important to note that the standard does not cover cold-rolled sheet products or strips obtained by cutting flat steel products. Quality requirements for bright surfaces of corrosion-resistant stainless steel grades are regulated by the EN 10088-3 standard.
When supplying metal products, EV Group China follows the general technical conditions set out in the EN 10021 standard, which supplement the requirements of EN 10277.
