The EN 10279 standard establishes strict regulatory requirements for limit deviations of geometric parameters, cross-sectional shape, and linear density of hot-rolled steel channels with parallel or tapered flanges. The technological standards of this document are mandatory to ensure the interchangeability of metal products and compliance with design loads in construction and mechanical engineering structures.
It is important to note that the scope of this regulation applies exclusively to section steel made of carbon and low-alloy steels. The requirements of EN 10279 do not apply to channels manufactured from corrosion-resistant (stainless) steel grades, for which separate industry quality standards are provided.
