Technical regulation and scope of application for corrosion-resistant steel castings according to EN 10283
This technical standard establishes requirements for the quality and inspection methods of general-purpose castings made from corrosion-resistant steels. The document is fundamental for engineering and technical departments involved in the design and procurement of shaped castings for aggressive environments.
Standardization applies to cast products made from the following structural steel classes: martensitic, austenitic, austenitic-ferritic (duplex), and fully austenitic. Technical parameters are classified based on chemical composition (see Table 1) and standard mechanical properties (see Table 2).
EV Group China provides supplies of cast parts that comply with these specifications for critical industrial equipment components.
Limitations on the application of the standard
The scope of this document is limited to the manufacturing processes of the castings themselves. In the case of welding operations, the standard applies only if the welding is performed directly by the manufacturer of the cast products.
The requirements of the standard do not apply to the following types of work:
- Welded joints made using forged rolled products (sheet steel, pipe billets, forgings).
- Welding operations performed by third-party organizations or entities that are not the direct manufacturers of the castings.
To ensure the reliability of critical structures, EV Group China engineers recommend strictly observing these limitations when selecting installation technologies and qualifying contractors.
