EN 1171: Technical standards for cast iron gate valves from EV Group China

Technical requirements and scope of the EN 1171 standard

The international standard EN 1171 regulates the design features, operational parameters, and safety requirements for cast iron gate valves equipped with flanged connections, socket ends, or spigot ends. This regulatory framework is fundamental for the design and production of shut-off valves intended for a wide range of industrial and general engineering systems. EV Group China specialists recommend using gate valves that comply with EN 1171 for critical pipeline mains, given their high reliability when adhering to specific industry performance standards.

The range of nominal diameters (DN) covered by the standard includes the following sizes: DN 40, 50, 65, 80, 100, 125, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, and 1000 mm.

Classification by nominal pressure (PN) and performance characteristics:

  • Isobaric systems: PN 6, PN 10, PN 16, PN 25.
  • Isomorphic systems: PS range from 10 bar to PS 1 bar under standard operating temperature conditions.
