Technical regulation of the EN 1559 standard for magnesium castings
The EN 1559 standard establishes strict requirements for the quality and technical delivery conditions of castings made from magnesium alloys. The document covers workpieces obtained through various casting methods, including sand casting, permanent mold casting, die casting, centrifugal casting, as well as investment casting and continuous casting methods.
EV Group China ensures the supply of magnesium castings in full compliance with EN 1559 protocols, guaranteeing the stability of the chemical composition and the physical-mechanical properties of the products. This standard is a key tool for engineers when designing high-load parts that require high specific strength and corrosion resistance of magnesium.
Limitations of the standard’s scope
The provisions of EN 1559 apply exclusively to finished cast products. The standard does not regulate requirements for the following types of products:
- Ingots and standard blanks intended for further remelting.
- Semi-finished products subject to subsequent mechanical processing (grinding, bending, or deformation).
- Workpieces obtained by the extrusion method (extruding through a forming hole).
EV Group China specialists are ready to provide expert consultation on the selection of magnesium alloy grades and the compliance of castings with international standards for your production needs.
