Technical regulation and scope of the EN 545 standard
The EN 545 standard defines strict technical requirements and testing methodologies for ductile iron pipes, fittings, accessories, and their joints used for the design and installation of external utility networks. EV Group China supplies products that fully comply with these specifications to ensure the reliability of hydraulic systems.
Scope of application for products regulated by this standard:
- Transportation of various types of water: potable, industrial, recycled, wastewater, as well as water for irrigation, fire-fighting, and hydroelectric complexes.
- Operation of pipelines in both pressurized and gravity-flow modes.
- Suitability for both underground and above-ground installation.
EV Group China offers a range of products compliant with EN 545, featuring the following characteristics:
- Types of end connections: socket, flanged, or spigot designs.
- High-efficiency internal and external protective coatings to prevent corrosion.
- Operating temperature range of the transported medium: from 0 °C to +50 °C (specialized design solutions are applied if operation outside this range is required).
- Limitations: the standard is not intended for pipelines operated in conditions of high fire hazard.
The technical scope of the standard includes cast pipes and fittings with a nominal diameter (DN) from 40 mm to 2000 mm. The document also contains engineering recommendations for integrating cast iron elements with polymer and composite piping systems.
Note: All pressure parameters in the EN 545 standard are calculated as gauge pressure in bars (1 bar = 100 kPa).
