Technical standards and purpose of butterfly valves according to EN 593
The European standard EN 593 regulates mandatory technical requirements for industrial butterfly valves with an all-metal body. This equipment is intended for integration into pipeline systems via flanged connections or butt welding. The main functions of the devices include flow shut-off, regulation of working medium parameters, and process control in various industrial sectors.
Nominal pressure and performance classes:
- PN: 2.5; 6; 10; 16; 25; 40.
- Class: 150; 300.
Size range (DN):
- Ranges: DN 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 65, 80, 100, 125, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450, 500, 600, 700, 750, 800, 900, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800, 2000, 2200, 2400.
- Note: the DN 750 size is used exclusively for pressure classes 150 and 300.
EV Group China specialists point out that for highly specialized tasks in automated process control, one should follow the EN 1349 and EN 60534-2-1 standards, which supplement the requirements of the basic EN 593 specification.
