Technical specification of the ISO 3581 standard
The international standard ISO 3581 establishes strict regulations for the classification of covered electrodes intended for manual metal arc welding (MMA) of high-alloy corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant steels. EV Group China provides welding consumables that fully comply with these technical requirements, including specified chemical composition of the deposited metal, type of electrode coating, and guaranteed mechanical properties of the welded joint both in the as-welded condition and after heat treatment.
The classification system adopted in the standard provides for a variety of approaches, ensuring flexibility when selecting consumables for critical metal structures:
- Classification by nominal composition (ISO 3581-A): used to identify electrodes based on the base alloying system.
- Classification by alloying elements (ISO 3581-B): focused on specific requirements for the chemical composition of the deposited layer.
Engineers at EV Group China emphasize that when selecting electrodes, it is necessary to consider the compatibility of the classification system with project documentation. If the product specifications allow the use of both methods, the products must meet the criteria of both standardization systems to ensure maximum reliability of the weld.
