Technical requirements and scope of the EN ISO 4032 standard
The international standard EN ISO 4032 regulates the geometric parameters, tolerances, and technical delivery conditions for metric hexagon nuts, style 1. This fastener is intended for use in critical assemblies with a nominal thread diameter ranging from M1.6 to M64.
To ensure high quality of assembly, the standard classifies products by accuracy classes:
- Product grade A: applies to nuts with a nominal thread diameter d ≤ M16.
- Product grade B: applies to nuts with a nominal thread diameter d > M16.
EV Group China draws the attention of engineers to the necessity of strict compliance with associated standards when designing joints. In cases where specific characteristics not described in the main text of the standard are required, the following regulatory documents should be consulted:
- ISO 724: basic dimensions for metric threads.
- ISO 898-2: mechanical properties of nuts with specified proof load values.
- ISO 965-1: tolerances for general-purpose metric screw threads.
- ISO 3506-2: corrosion-resistant stainless steel fasteners of austenitic, ferritic, and martensitic grades.
- ISO 4759-1: tolerances for fasteners.
Important note: This standard describes style 1 nuts. For high hexagon nuts (style 2), the specifications of the ISO 4033 standard must be used.
