EN ISO 5211 Standard: Specification for Part-Turn Actuators and Industrial Valves

Technical requirements of the EN ISO 5211 standard for industrial valves

The international specification EN ISO 5211 defines unified requirements for the geometric and operational parameters of connection interfaces between part-turn actuators and industrial valves. Experts at EV Group China emphasize that compliance with these standards is critical for ensuring alignment and reliable torque transmission in automated flow control systems.

Key aspects regulated by this standard:

  • Geometric parameters of flange connections required for mounting the actuator directly onto the valve or via an intermediate support.
  • Design dimensions of actuator output shafts and the mating elements of the valve assembly.
  • Standards for maximum torque values for coupling connections and intermediate support structures.

It should be noted that the methods for attaching intermediate supports to the valve body are outside the scope of this standard and must be determined by the manufacturer’s design documentation.

Note 1. The term “valve” in the context of EN ISO 5211 covers both direct mounting and variants using intermediate support elements.

Note 2. If the actuator system consists of a tandem of a multi-turn actuator and a gearbox, the coupling requirements must comply with the provisions of the international standard EN ISO 5210.
