Technical description and scope of the ISO 7042 standard
The international standard ISO 7042 regulates the design requirements and performance characteristics of all-metal prevailing torque type hexagon nuts (high type). Products supplied by EV Group China strictly comply with these standards, ensuring reliable fixation of threaded connections under vibration loads.
Technical parameters and classification
The standard covers fasteners with a nominal metric thread diameter from M5 to M36. Depending on the thread diameter, the following accuracy classes are established:
- Accuracy class A: applies to products with a nominal thread diameter up to and including M16.
- Accuracy class B: applies to products with a nominal thread diameter larger than M16.
The mechanical properties of ISO 7042 nuts sold by EV Group China correspond to property classes 5, 8, 10, and 12. The choice of property class is based on the design loads of the assembly and the yield strength requirements of the fastener.
Special requirements
In cases where project documentation requires deviations from the standard geometric or strength parameters specified in ISO 7042, the use of other applicable international standards is permitted.
