Technical Standard GB/T 4237: Hot-Rolled Stainless Steel from EV Group China

1. Scope of the Standard

This specification establishes comprehensive technical requirements, classification criteria, methods for geometry and mass inspection, as well as testing and certification protocols for hot-rolled stainless steel products. The document regulates requirements for heavy plate, wide strip, sheets obtained from coil slitting, and narrow strips made of corrosion-resistant steels supplied by EV Group China.

2. Normative References

The application of this standard requires compliance with the provisions of the following normative documents, which establish methods for composition analysis, mechanical testing, and quality control:

  • GB/T 222 – Permissible deviations for the chemical composition of steel products.
  • GB/T 223.3–223.69 – Complex methods of chemical analysis (photometric, gravimetric, and spectrometric analysis of alloying elements, impurities, and gases).
  • GB/T 228.1 – Tensile testing method at room temperature.
  • GB/T 230.1 / 231.1 / 4340.1 – Standardized methods for Rockwell, Brinell, and Vickers hardness determination.
  • GB/T 232 – Bend testing of metallic materials.
  • GB/T 247 – Rules for marking, packaging, and product certification.
  • GB/T 709-2006 – Dimensions, mass, and shape tolerances for hot-rolled steel products.
  • GB/T 2975 – Preparation of test pieces for mechanical testing.
  • GB/T 4334 – Methods for intergranular corrosion resistance inspection.
  • GB/T 6394 – Methodology for grain size evaluation.
  • GB/T 8170 – Rules for rounding off numerical values.
  • GB/T 11170 – Spectrometric method for chemical composition analysis.
  • GB/T 17505 – General delivery conditions for steel products.
  • GB/T 20066 – Sampling procedures for composition analysis.
  • GB/T 20123 / 20124 – Determination of carbon, sulfur, and nitrogen content in metals.
  • GB/T 20878-2007 – Classification and chemical composition of stainless and heat-resistant steels.

3. Classification and Designations

3.1 Edge Condition

  • EC – Edge cut;
  • EM – Edge mill (uncut).

3.2 Manufacturing Precision

  • PT.A – Normal thickness precision;
  • PT.B – High thickness precision;

4. Ordering Requirements

When submitting an order to EV Group China, the following parameters must be specified:

  • Number of the current standard;
  • Product nomenclature (sheet, strip, coil);
  • Steel grade or corresponding digital codes;
  • Exact dimensions and required precision class;
  • Total mass or quantity of product units;
  • Type of surface finish;
  • Requirements for edge conditions.
