ISO 10512 Prevailing Torque Type Nuts: Technical Parameters and Strength Standards

Technical specifications and application area of ISO 10512 prevailing torque type nuts

The international standard ISO 10512 establishes strict requirements for hexagon prevailing torque type nuts equipped with a non-metallic (nylon) insert. This type of fastener is designed for assemblies subjected to high vibration loads where prevention of self-loosening is required. The products feature a metric fine pitch thread and cover nominal diameters (D) ranging from 8 to 36 mm.

Product classification by manufacturing precision:

  • Class A: for thread diameters up to 16 mm inclusive.
  • Class B: for thread diameters over 16 mm.

EV Group China supplies ISO 10512 standard nuts in strength classes 6, 8, and 10, which allows for selecting the optimal solution for project loads of any complexity. The geometric parameters of ISO 10512 products are unified with ISO 8673 standard nuts, except for design features related to the presence of the locking ring.

Engineering note: EV Group China specialists point out that due to the specific geometry of the nuts and the fine thread pitch, there is a risk of thread stripping under extreme axial loads. In critical assemblies operating under limit conditions, it is recommended to use high nuts according to the ISO 7041 specification.
